GET THE MOST RECENT PROGRAM HERE

In less than two weeks we will be together at NEAS 2012!

Karen and I are finalizing details to the meeting and we are excited to greet each of you when you register at Schooner Commons on Friday evening or at Moore Auditorium Saturday morning. A printed program will be distributed when you register and a digital copy is available through the link above.

Schoodic Point is a beautiful and remote location and we want to provide driving directions to you, send along a campus map of the SERC Institute (SERC) campus and give some logistical details so you are well provisioned during the NEAS weekend. Indeed, SERC is in the town of Winter Harbor, ME and the closest city with major amenities is Ellsworth, ME (about 45 minutes away).

There are limited groceries and restaurants available in Winter Harbor and in the small towns along Route 186 towards Schoodic Point (from the south). Karen and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND finding a restaurant in Ellsworth for dinner Friday evening and if you need any sundry items, stocking up in Ellsworth- there are two large grocery stores (Hannaford’s and Shaws). For our Maritime attendees, restaurants and stores in St. Stephen and/or Calais may be most appropriate.

Driving directions: Look out for NEAS signs to assist in locating SERC!

From the North or the South: Take US Route 1 and turn onto Maine Route 186. Follow 186 to the main entrance of the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park. A six mile, one way loop road offers views of lobster boats, sea birds, and forest-draped islands. The SERC Institute is located at the southernmost tip of the Peninsula.

Approximate distance to the SERC Institute:

10 minutes from Winter Harbor
45 minutes from Ellsworth
1.5 hours from Bangor
3.5 hours from Portland
5.5 hours from Boston

Coordinates for your GPS unit that will bring you to Moore Auditorium on the SERC campus: Long -68.061043 ( Notice the -negative) / Lat. 44.33554
